Japanese Magnolias, 2021

Japanese Magnolias, 2021
In the backyard of my parents’ house, there is a Southern magnolia tree that was planted the same year I was born. I’ve always loved having this marker of age and time related to me. When I went to LSU, I saw Japanese magnolias for the first time. There were a ton of these trees on one side campus, or at least in my memory there were a ton. When they bloomed, I would take Dalrymple Dr. and Highland Rd. home so I could walk underneath all of those wonderful blossoms. Even now, when I see these flowers, I think of my early college years.
